MAKICHUK: Will Trump push Canada back toward a Liberal junta?
Yes folks, the eastern bleeding hearts are leaning toward Carn-Ageddon
Just weeks ago, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre had a massive lead in the polls, leading most to believe he would be a sure thing for the next prime minister.
Then Trudeau stepped down. Well, he sorta stepped down.
Like a clingy ex-girlfriend, he still hasn’t totally gone away.
Enter a host of Liberal leader wannabes to take up the Trudeau mantle, and the re-election of one President Donald Trump south of the border.
The game had suddenly changed. In a big way.
Suddenly, we had former Bank of Canada and Bank of England honcho Mark Carney at the head of the Liberal leadership contest.
Appearing on trendy talk shows in the US, such as the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, attacking Poilievre and portraying himself, for obvious reasons, as “an outsider.”
This after the comedic TV host said Poilievre seemed “like a villain in a Karate Kid movie.” An unjust slap in the face to Western Canada, not to mention a complete misjudging of character.
Obviously having no idea what he was talking about.
If anything, Trudeau is the villain in all this. Destroying everything that Canada has stood for over the last nine years.
But Mr. Stewart clearly doesn’t know that, because like most Americans he knows shit about Canada. Americans just don’t get it, right?
Back to Trump.
His reckless talk about taking over Panama, Greenland and Canada — all to form a new Hemispheric Defence against Russia and China — has caused serious consternation in Canuckistan.
How dare he say that, Canadians, now awake to the threat, and now showing a semblance of patriotism.
He speaks with forked tongue, we shout in anger.
Suddenly, there’s a run on Canadian flags.
Well well. Something that was uncommon in Canada has now become common.
But it took The Donald to make that happen. Hate to say it, but it’s true.
We can thank President Trump for making Canada great again!
And, of course our friends in the East are once again drinking the Liberal Kool-Aid.
Sanity sure didn’t last long did it.
According to some pundits, the former Bank of Canada and Bank of England boss, could close the pollster gap, and, possibly even lead our nation back toward a Liberal junta.
I say junta, because it was a junta. Led by Justin Trudeau, who had one bad habit.
He formed policy without talking to anyone! LOL!
He just went ahead and did what he wanted, like a hip Fidel Castro. But let’s not get into that sucking quagmire of lost hope and despair, by the name of Justin.
Or his strong-arm men, the RCMP.
Get thee behind me Satan!
Nevertheless, as Sherlock Holmes would say, there is truth in the possibility that Carney, who was called a “twerp” by the UK’s Telegraph newspaper, may find a way into the PMO.
The Telegraph, by the way, also said “Canadians must be aghast at the prospect of a leader even more smug and incompetent than the current prime minister.”
At one point on Carney's watch the UK had the highest inflation in the G7. He was also completely lacking in any neutrality when it came to Brexit, the newspaper wrote.
It was bad enough that the Canadian Prime Minister, who announced his resignation earlier this month, presided over the gradual destruction of Canada’s economy, immigration system and international standing.
But now Canadians are facing the prospect of someone even more smug and incompetent (if that’s possible) taking his place, the newspaper wrote.
As the self-satisfied former governor of the Bank of England from 2013 to 2020, Carney helped to screw the British economy by bungling its monetary policy, maintaining ultra-low interest rates and huge amounts of quantitative easing.
The latter involves the buying of government bonds or other assets to increase the money supply and stimulate economic activity.
Hardly a good track record.
When asked why he wants to be PM, despite not paying his political dues, Carney responded with unashamed arrogance: “I have started at the top, many times.”
Right.
“I’ve had many jobs where I came in at the top,” he said, when asked what he would say to someone who thinks being prime minister is not an entry-level job.
“I came in at the top of the Bank of England, Bank of Canada, in terms of the United Nations and climate change.”
He insisted that he intends to put the economy “back on track.”
That’s all well and good, but what about restoring the military, or bridging the Grand Canyon between east and west? Or scrapping the controversial Bill C-63, the so-called Online Harms Act, or solving the housing crisis?
It isn’t just about the economy, stupid.
Not to mention, killing the carbon tax, and not replacing it with some other goofy plan. We’ve had enough of that nonsense.
To borrow a saying from Homer Simpson, the carbon tax should be killed, burned and buried. Then, dug up, and killed again! LOL!
And while he’s at it, kill that goddam Online News Act (Bill C-18).
Look folks, this guy spent most of his life being chauffered around as a bigshot banker. He is not like us. He will never be like us.
He’s a born and bred Bay Street snake.
The man has probably never filled a cart at Costco, and worried about how in hell he was going to pay for it. He’s had others, pay for him.
Which is why he is such an arrogant bastard.
On the Daily Show, Carney, who has refused to disclose information about his private investments after he served as an economic adviser to the Liberal party, tried to diminish Pierre’s character.
“There is a type of politician — you have a few of them here in the United States and they had a lot in and around Brexit and we have Mr. Poilievre in Canada — a type of politician who tend to be lifelong politician, really tend to worship the market but they’ve never actually worked in the private sector.”
“And they see opportunity in tragedy, like you just had with the fires, these horrible fires, and they see opportunity in tragedy to push an agenda …” said Carney, who accused Poilievre of wanting to use the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity to cut taxes and government workers.
If anyone has pushed an agenda, it is Trudeau and the Liberals.
Sorry folks, but the dagger is pointed in the wrong direction. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Carney is nothing more than a flim-flam man, a phoney baloney executive who has faked it the entire way. Worse than Trudeau, as the Telegraph said.
There is no need for hero worship here, the man is a fraud.
I’ve worked with men like this — in banking — they’re holier than thou. And they have no qualms about reminding you of it, or shoving your nose in it.
They’re a dime a dozen and they’re almost always over-rated. Spending more time playing cards at the Petroleum Club than actually doing any work.
Covering their asses when something goes wrong.
Pulling down big bucks and big perks. And jumping from top corporate job to top corporate job, failing all the way.
It’s like that Billy Bragg song, “Look the part, and you get the job.”
Canada seems to specialize in those types. And for some reason, we put up with them.
And of course, the scared folks in Ontario, the bleeding hearts and the feint of heart, are leaning us toward Carn-Ageddon.
Maybe we have it coming.
